Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya recently submitted recommendations for the construction of floodwalls along major waterways throughout Bacolod City, in an effort to avoid a flooding situation similar to the one that struck the city last week.
He named the communities in particular need of such infrastructure as Barangays 28, 39, 40, 41, Taculing, Pahanocoy, and Singcang-Airport.
The congressman also cited a lack of dredging in many rivers, which would increase their depth, as a contributor to overflowing waterways.
Gasataya added he would also prioritize the construction of evacuation centers, which was previously pushed by Bacolod City Councilor Sonya Verdeflor.
Meanwhile, the legislator assured a budget is already in place for the proposed projects./WDJ
