The Iloilo City Youth Development Division (CYDD), in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, recently conducted a four-day training for the Tiger Shark Volunteer Group, a group of disaster relief volunteers, at the Iloilo City Diamond Jubilee Hall.
Volunteers went through a standard first aid training; along with a basic life support course, which included bandaging, casualty rescue, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
“We are looking forward to [training] more volunteers,” said CYDD Head Jayson Gregorio.
Earlier this week, the CYDD announced they would be holding Disaster Resiliency Camps in Iloilo City in October and December; a project conducted in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Region VI (DILG-6) and the Liga ng mga Barangay (Liga).
Organizers expect around 300 participants for each camp./WDJ
