Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. yesterday instructed the Provincial Engineer’s Office to prepare formal proposals for 13 agro-forestry projects, estimated to cost around P90.9 million, to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
“Comply with all the required documents and do it fast,” he said.
The governor, while meeting with the DENR, local officials, and engineering officers from Calinog, Lambunao, and Janiuay, discussed the proposals, which are expected to benefit municipalities located in the Jalaur River basin.
DENR-Iloilo Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) Raul Lorilla said the projects include the construction of pathways and hanging bridges, nine of which, worth P75.9 million, have already been validated.
He also discussed the need for access roads, particularly between Calinog and Lambunao.
The governor said he would like to see the proposals approved for implementation by the DENR and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) before the end of his term in 2019./WDJ
