After previously being invited to perform in Sydney, Australia for Philippine Independence Day celebrations earlier this year, Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School, the current champions of the Dinagyang Festival Ati tribe competition, are scheduled to perform in South Korea and New Zealand.
According to Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) chairman Ramon Cua Locsin, the group will be performing at the ongoing Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival in Anseong City, South Korea, an annual celebration of traditional Korean performing arts, which runs until October 1.
“Dinagyang will be performing in Anseong City as they will be also coming here as guests during the 50th Anniversary in January 2018,” he added.
The group is also expected to take part in the Auckland, New Zealand Farmers Santa Parade in November.
Following the 2017 Dinagyang Festival, earlier this year, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog noted the festival winners also received an invitation to perform in Quebec, Canada.
Previous festival performers have participated in events in the United States, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong./WDJ
