Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano affirmed the bill postponing the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections will be signed by President Rodrigo Duterte this week.
With both chambers of Congress approving the proposal, Paduano noted, once signed, all incumbent barangay officials will remain in their respective posts.
The initial House Bill, penned by Surigao del Norte second district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, granted the president appointment powers to replace barangay officials, however the consensus in Congress called for a holdover of current officials.
The polls were originally slated for October 23./WDJ
