Bacolod City District Engineering Office head, Engr. Abraham Villareal, recently revealed the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) projected the ongoing rehabilitation to the Bacolod Public Plaza will be completed amid next month’s MassKara Festival.
“The target date is the second week of October,” he noted.
The annual celebration is set to begin in the first week of October and run until the third week of the month.
Villareal said the updates will make the area more conducive for locals and tourists who wish to relax. He added, the highlight of the project is the construction of four state-of-the-art water fountains.
“These are laser-lighted water fountains with varying colors,” the office head explained.
The rehabilitation comes at a cost of P10 million, sourced from Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya and Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Meanwhile, Villareal said the DPWH planning board is also considering the construction of an esplanade near the Bacolod City Government Center. He added, talks are ongoing with the property owners, with an aim of starting the project next year./DGB, WDJ
