2017 Negros International Open Chess Championship

The upcoming 2017 Negros International Open Chess Championship, set to take place from October 11 to 19 in Bacolod City, has at least four Grand Masters (GM) from overseas confirmed for the competition.

Among the players include Nigel Short from England; Srinath Narayanan from India; and Tuan Minh Tran and Duc Hua Nguyen, both from Vietnam.

Nigel Short from England is one of four Grand Masters (GM) from overseas confirmed for the upcoming 2017 Negros International Open Chess Championship, set to take place from October 11 to 19 in Bacolod City.

Vietnamese International Master (IM) Minh Thang Tran is also expected to participate.

Meanwhile, Filipino players expected for the competition include GMs Rogelio Antonio, Jr. and Darwin Laylo; IMs Oliver Dimakiling, Haridas Pascua, Kim Steven Yap, Ronald Dableo, Rolando Nolte, Roderick Nava, Chito Garma, Ronald Bancod, Richelieu Salcedo, and Joel Pimentel, Jr.; Woman International Masters (WIM) Jan Jodilyn Fronda and Marie Antoinette; and Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) Masters Sander Severino, Nelson Villanueva, Narquingden Reyes, Mari Joseph Turqueza, and Roel Abelgas./JSG, WDJ
