The Bago City Police Station is preparing criminal charges against the driver of a truck involved in the recent multi-vehicle collision that occurred at Purok Paghidaet, Barangay Taloc in the said city.
According to Bago City Police Station traffic investigator, Police Officer 3 (PO3) Jeffrey Montinola, 28-year-old Ricardo Rojo may face vehicular manslaughter charges following a collision with a Ceres bus, after crashing into a tricycle that was parked along the side of the road.
The investigator noted, Ceres parent company Vallacar Transit Incorporated (VTI) and Rojo’s company met last Sunday, where families of the victims demanded the latter to pay for their hospital expenses.
The family of April Rex Villegas, the lone fatality, also wants Rojo’s company to pay for their burial expenses.
Meanwhile, VTI insisted on having Rojo’s company pay for the bus that was destroyed in the accident.
Montinola said, if the parties cannot come to an agreement, charges will be filed.
Last Saturday, Villegas was killed, while another 31 passengers were injured, after Rojo’s truck slammed to a parked tricycle, forcing him into oncoming traffic, and colliding with the Ceres bus.
The injured passengers are currently recovering at various hospitals across Bacolod City./WDJ
