A fire broke out Monday morning at a market on the resort island of Boracay, located within the municipality of Malay, Aklan.
According to Malay Town Councilor Nenette Graf, the local Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire at D’Talipapa, a flea market located at Station 2, started around 4:00 a.m. and a “fire out” was declared by 9:30 a.m.
The town official noted, almost 90 percent of the market was damaged.
A nearby resort, along with boarding houses, also reportedly suffered damage.
No injuries were reported./WDJ
