The House of Representatives approved, on its third and final reading, the postponement of this year’s barangay and SK elections, during their regular session yesterday.
In a radio report from Iloilo City, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, who was attending an oath-taking for PDP-Laban members in the town of Guimbal, said both houses of Congress have decided to reschedule the elections for October of 2018.
The House of Representatives voted 213-10 on the measure.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Commission on Elections (Comelec) supervisor, Atty. Jessie Suarez, said they have been expecting the approval of House Bill 6308, which was filed by Surigao del Norte second district Rep. Robert Ace Barbers.
The bill also includes the holdover of all incumbent barangay officials./WDJ
