According to Iloilo Provincial Board Member Demy Sonza, the statue will reiterate the importance of the Ilonggo general, who also became the first Filipino governor of Iloilo.

Meanwhile, IBP Vice President Jennifer Palmares-Fong said the statue is meant to give honor to an Ilonggo who fought for freedom.

The statue will be formally inaugurated on November 11, which would have been Delgado’s 119th birthday./WDJ
