Three dead, two wounded in La Castellana hacking incident

A Sunday evening hacking incident in La Castellana, Negros Occidental left three members of one family dead and two others wounded. Police identified the fatalities as 39-year-old Luis Solis, a resident of Sitio Kambugnay, Barangay Cabacungan in the said city, along with his two minor children. Those wounded included his wife, Jennifer, and their 13-year-old son. The suspect is said to be the victim’s cousin, 27-year-old Richard Solis Pacquera, a resident of Purok 4 in the said barangay. According to La Castellana Municipal Police Station director, Police Chief Inspector Erma Teoxon, the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. when the victim was involved in a confrontation with his cousin. Solis tried to run from Pacquera, however, the assailant followed him home, leading to the hacking incident. Pacquera eventually turned himself into the police. According to an investigation, the motive of the crime was a land conflict. The victim’s wife and son are currently confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
