According to Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) chief, Police Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, amulets, locally-referred to as anting-anting, were found at the hideout of slain drug lord Richard ‘Buang’ Prevendido, located at the Landheights Subdivision in the Jaro district of Iloilo City.
The IPPO director noted, the amulets failed in saving Prevendido’s life after the drug lord was killed, alongside his son, last Friday after police attempted to serve the elder Prevendido an arrest warrant.
During a visit to Iloilo in June, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, referred to Prevendido as the top drug lord of Region VI and ordered the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) to take action.
Tayaba said the process of tracking down the drug lord took eight months, utilizing forces from PRO-6 and the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Prevendido was a national high-valued target and a call for his surrender was made by the PNP after suspected drug lord Melvin ‘Boyet’ Odicta, Sr. and his wife were gunned down by unidentified gunmen in August of last year.
Both Prevendido and Odicta drug groups had been identified by both PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as major drug syndicates in the region./WDJ
