The Department of Education (DepEd) formed a fact-finding team over the weekend to probe the recent death of a local official in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
The agency released a statement condemning the murder of DepEd division of Guihulngan Administrative Officer Oscar Solania Asildo, Jr., who was gunned down last Wednesday by two unidentified suspects in Barangay Poblacion of the said city.
DepEd also urged local officials and law enforcement to investigate the case.
The incident comes a month after six police officers of the Guihulngan City Police Station were ambushed and slain by members of the New People’s Army (NPA)./WDJ
