Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) project engineer Ferdinand Magada said yesterday they will not be able to complete the construction of a drainage system in Barangay Mandalagan on time.
Magada explained there is an obstruction at the project site and they have to revise the pathway of the drainage system causing the delay.
He said the project should be completed by September but due to the delay, it could be extended.
Magada clarified that the contractor is not liable for the delays, as they have to be careful not to damage any cable wire that was placed underground by a major telephone company.
He said the contractor did not commit any lapse in relation to the accident that happened in the area early this week since the early warning devices installed at the site are sufficient.
Magada, however, advised motorists to be careful when traversing the area as he assured that they are doing everything in their power to complete the project as soon as possible.
On Tuesday, Bacolod City Congressman Greg Gasataya requested the DPWH to expedite the completion of the drainage project after a vehicle accidentally fell in an excavation./WDJ
