With the impending arrival of Chief Insp. Jovie Espenido, the chief of police of Iloilo City is scheduled for a new assignment.
Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) announced that Sr. Supt. Remus Zacharias Canieso has ceased to be the director of Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) effective August 29.
Canieso has been assigned as chief of PRO-6’s Directorial Staff.
Canieso was initially assigned to be the Chief Directorial Staff in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
“We would like to inform the public that the order for Sr. Supt. Canieso [to be assigned in ARMM] is cancelled,” said Supt. Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesman, in a text message.
Gorero also confirmed that Espenido has been relieved from PRO-10 and is now assigned in PRO-6 in Iloilo City.
Espenido has yet to arrive in Iloilo to officially serve his new post, after ordered reassigned by President Rodrigo Duterte earlier this week.
Espenido led the operation that led to the killing of Mayor Rolando Espinosa of Albuera, Leyte, who was an alleged drug lord; and the killing of Parojinog family in Ozamiz.
Duterte has been naming Mabilog in illegal drug operations in Iloilo and had given him time to cut his alliance with the drug lords in Iloilo. These allegations were vehemently denied by the local chief executive./WDJ
