A month after the deadly ambush that claimed the lives of six police officers and a civilian, another ambush took place yesterday morning killing an administrative assistant of the Department of Education (DepEd) in Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
Police identified the victim as Oscar Solania Asildo Jr., a city resident.
Guihulngan City police chief, Police Superintendent Bonifacio Tecson, said Asildo was riding his own vehicle when he was suddenly approached by two unidentified gunmen who shot the victim several times.
Asildo was killed on the spot, while the suspects boarded a white sedan and fled towards the seaside area of the city.
Tecson said they are still investigating the identities and the motives of the suspects.
Earlier on July 21, members of Guihulngan City Police were also ambushed in Barangay Magsaysay of the said city, killing six cops including the city police chief.
The New People’s Army (NPA) later claimed responsibility for the ambush./WDJ
