Surigao del Norte Representative Robert Barbers is scheduled to visit Negros Occidental next week to attend the groundbreaking of a new high school in Isabela town.
Isabela councilor Patrick Montilla yesterday said Barbers is a close family friend and the chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs.
He added the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tinongan National High School (TNHS) is scheduled on September 6 with Barbers as guest of honor. He will be joined by Negros Occidental Schools Division Superintendent Gilbert Sadsad, TNHS principal Suzanne Catague, representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor.
Montilla and Barbers will lead the blessing of the lot and the lowering and sealing of the time capsule.
Catague earlier thanked the Montilla family through the councilor for the donation of almost one hectare of their property in Hda. Bonifacio where the new school will be constructed.
She said it is a dream come true for the TNHS students, faculty and parents to finally have a site for the school after almost 39 years of being a “squatter” at the Tinongan Elementary School.
Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Bayan of Isabela passed a resolution in appreciation and recognition to the Montilla family for the donation of the property.”/WDJ
