The body of a man, suspected to be a member of the notorious Aki Cuadra robbery group, was found dead in a sugarcane field at Hacienda Luisa, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, Friday morning.
Police Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, chief of Police Station 5 (PS5), identified the fatality as 26-year-old Rodney Mavilla, a resident of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 in the said city.
Gabana said the body was positively identified by Mavilla’s father.
During their investigation, police found a bullet and an empty cartridge of bullet from an unknown firearm near the body, but Gabana believes the victim was killed in a different location and was transferred to the area where he was found.
According to the PS5 commander, Mavilla was allegedly a member of the Aki Cuadra Group, which is involved in illegal drugs, along with a string of robbery incidents across Bacolod City and other nearby local government units over the past few months,
In addition, the body was found with a placard reading: “I am Tabby, member of Aki Cuadra Group, pusher, robber, and carnapper in Bacolod City and nearby cities. Don’t imitate me.”
Gabana added, police are now looking into the possibility a rival group may have been involved or it may have been the result of a drug deal gone wrong./WDJ
