Mary Angeline Alcantara of the Hanah Taekwondo gym is set to represent the Philippines at the 3rd World Cadet Taekwondo Championships in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, scheduled to run from August 23 to 27.
A gold medalist for the Negros Island Region in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa, Alcantara qualified for the competition after winning bronze at the Asian Championships last June.
“We’ve done the best we can to prepare her,” said coach Vic Feria. “It’s not only for Angeline but for the province, for the country, and for everyone.”
Alcantara, along with seven other teammates, leaves for Egypt on Monday./WDJ
