Negros Occidental sixth district Rep. Mercedes Alvarez said no local politics were discussed during the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) meeting in Pasig City, yesterday.
“It was just a quarterly get-together,” she said. “We didn’t talk about the 2019 elections or local elections, [it’s still] too far away.”
Other local elected officials in attendance included Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Bascon, Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco, and Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo.
Lacson said NPC chairman Eduardo Cojuangco, Jr., who presided over the meeting, said the party needs to increase their numbers.
“We will definitely invite members in the province,” said the vice governor./WDJ
