A father and son were killed in a shootout with police at Sitio Gaboc, Barangay Malaiba, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, Wednesday night.
The fatalities were identified as Ruel Cantero and his son, Jonel Cantero.
Police Chief Inspector Alfredo Alarcon of the Canlaon City police said they were about to serve a search warrant on suspected firearm possession, when they were met with gunfire from the suspects.
The incident forced the authorities to fire back, resulting in the death of the two suspects.
Police recovered two .45 caliber pistols from the crime scene, along with .45 caliber ammunition./WDJ
