Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr. ordered an increase in police presence after noticing a recent increase in robbery incidents throughout the province.
According to Castil, authorities have witnessed a spike in robbery incidents, particularly in the cities of Talisay, Silay, Victorias; and the town of EB Magalona.
In order to stop the robbery and theft incidents, Castil said they will increase the number of checkpoints, especially in the third district.
Castil is also considering better coordination with the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), as he believes the robbery incidents have been perpetrated by a local crime syndicate.
“During my recent meeting with the local chiefs of police in the province, they all said the robbery incidents were perpetrated by one group based in Bacolod City,” he said.
He added, information received regarding the group is currently being validated by intelligence units.
Castil will also be conducting visits to the various police stations in the province for compliance checks./WDJ
