Local DAR awards farmer cooperatives

The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Island Region (DAR-NIR) recently awarded agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) organizations during their 2017 summit at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel.
The Sycip Plantation Farmworkers Agrarian Cooperative was named best performing ARB organization under the Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP), while the Ramrod Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Rampuco) won under the Village Level Processing Center Enhanced Project (VLPCEP).
Rampuco was also recognized for outstanding product development.
The Lapay Agrarian Reform Cooperative and the Dalayapan Agrarian Reform Cooperative were recognized for outstanding performance for agrarian reform community connectivity and economic support services; the CDC-9 Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative won for community-managed potable water sanitation and hygiene; and the Hacienda Malaga-Cuenca Agrarian Reform Cooperative was awarded for outstanding micro-finance.
Meanwhile, the Casa Agrarian Reform Cooperative and the Maninihon, Omod, Catmod, Posi-on Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative were both named outstanding cooperative for institutional development.
Among special awards, San Carlos, Cadiz City, the Hacienda Bernardita Agrarian Reform Cooperative, and the Nabinay Agrarian Reform Cooperative were recognized for linking agrarian small holder farmers to market projects; while the Bonbonon Farmers Agrarian Reform Multi-Purpose Cooperative was awarded for credit and micro-finance programs in agrarian reform areas.
