Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) commander, Major General Jon Aying, slammed the New People’s Army (NPA), describing them as “show offs” after numerous sightings of the rebels were reported in Negros Occidental.
According to Aying, the NPA are engaging in “psychological warfare” in order to send out a message conveying strength.
“They are intentionally showing up at certain locations, but they are also careful, if they get spotted, they immediately flee in order to avoid confronting our troops,” Aying said.
Following the sightings, Aying said he communicated with local security forces to guard their detachments, police stations, municipal halls, and construction sites in order to deter any possible NPA attacks.
He also assured the business sector not to be cowed by NPA extortion activities and immediately coordinate with authorities should they receive threats./WDJ
