During a Bombo Radyo-Bacolod interview yesterday morning, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said he was furious after hearing about the recent ambush by the New People’s Army (NPA) on local law enforcement, resulting in the death of six police officers.
He said he wants to visit Negros Oriental to personally observe the security situation of the province, but is currently handling other matters in Metro Manila.
The PNP chief noted, it is very likely the NPA took advantage of the fact that many police and military units are focused on the situation in Marawi City, where government forces continue to fight with the Islamic State-backed Maute terror group.
Dela Rosa added, he directed Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) director, Police Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, to handle the investigation into the incident./WDJ
