Two Lakawon Island Resort and Spa employees are under investigation by Cadiz City police following the robbery of former Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co and his wife on Sunday.

Cadiz City Police chief, Police Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, said two men working on the island, who were not named, have been tagged as persons of interest.

Desear said the fingerprints of one employee were taken and forwarded to the Regional Crime Laboratory for forensic experts to compare with prints recovered from Co’s suite.

The police chief also confirmed one of the employees was missing after leaving without authorization from the management.

Desear stated they also visited the house of the missing employee, where he has yet to return.

He added, if the said employee does not appear within the next few days, they will be forced to file robbery charges against him.

Earlier on Sunday, Co and his wife, Priscilla Ann, were victimized by robbers while they were staying at the said resort.

Thieves managed to cart away several pieces of jewelry, cash, and watches, valued at nearly P4 million.

Following the incident, the Negros Occidental Provincial Tourism Office called for better security in tourist sites./DGB, WDJ
