The Philippines Games and Amusement Board (GAB) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Professional Boxing Association of Thailand (PBAT) in an effort to protect professional boxers.

According to the agreement, both sides will require favorable endorsement from their respective gaming bodies before hosting a fight.

“It must now be a standard for both countries to first get an approval before they will allow the boxers to fight,” said World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council (ABCO) executive secretary, Colonel Damrong Simakajornboon.

GAB Chairman Abraham Kahlil Mitra; PBAT President Naris Singwancha; and WBC vice president, Police General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, led the signatories of the agreement./JSG, WDJ
