Eight arrested for illegal gambling in Bacolod City

Eight people were arrested in two different anti-gambling crackdowns in Barangays Singcang-Airport and Granada, Bacolod City, Sunday.
Police identified the suspects as Jose July Hofileña, Johrey Ebarquez, Jomar Siva, and Bonnie Glenn Peruelo, all residents of Barangay Singcang-Airport; and Elbert Snooky, Joevanie Photos, Jojo Rosales, and Kim Dela Genre, all residents of Barangay Granada.
The Barangay Singcang-Airport operation was conducted by members of Police Station 8 (PS8), led by Police Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman, Jr., after they caught the suspects engaging in the illegal numbers game Cara y Cruz.
PS8 recovered three P1 coins, which were allegedly used as cue coins, and P200 of suspected bet money.
Meanwhile, Police Station 5 (PS5) operatives, led by Police Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, nabbed Snookie, Photos, Rosales, and Dela Genre as they were caught playing the card game “pusoy.”
PS5 members recovered two sets of playing cards and P655 worth of suspected bet money.
All eight suspects are facing illegal gambling charges./WDJ
