Ceres-Negros FC braved the rains over the weekend and destroyed Ilocos United FC, 7-0, at the Panaad Park and Stadium, keeping their undefeated home record in the Philippines Football League (PFL) intact.
Ceres midfielder and eventual ‘Man of the Match’ Stephan Schröck opened scoring in the 11th minute, scoring off a pass from fellow midfielder OJ Porteria.
Around the 24th minute, Schröck earned an assist after passing to defender Jeffrey Christiaens, who scored the second goal for the Negrense club.
Shortly after, in the 30th minute, forward Fernando Rodríguez made it 3-0.
After the half, Porteria earned himself a brace, scoring in the 69th and 72nd minutes.
Defender Manuel Herrera Lopez made it 6-0 after scoring off a corner kick.
Striker Patrick Reichelt scored the seventh goal in stoppage time, his first goal since coming back from injury. He had been out of action since August of last year, when he was stretched off the pitch with a knee injury during a Singapore Cup match against Tampines Rovers FC.
“It’s important to have a high performance [level] from the players,” said Ceres FC Assistant Coach Pepe Losada. “We are very proud for this.”
Losada substituted for Ceres coach Risto Vidaković after the latter was ejected from their previous match against Global Cebu FC. He is serving a suspension for complaining to a linesman after a Fernando Rodríguez goal was disallowed.
