Maasin attack suspects deny involvement

Three individuals accused of involvement in the June attack by the New People’s Army (NPA) on the Maasin Municipal Police Station recently denied links to the rebel group.
Mary Ilyich Bocala, the daughter of National Democratic Front (NDF) consultant Maria Concepcion Araneta-Bocala, is being charged on five counts associated with the attack.
She, however, claims she was in Iloilo on vacation.
Meanwhile, John Rey Aguado and Joerey Cordero of Alimodian, Iloilo declared their innocence, with their parents seeking the assistance of Mayor Geefre Alonsabe to clear their names.
They claim they are only high school students.
Meanwhile, Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) chief, Police Senior Superintendent Marlon Tayaba, said charges were filed based on eyewitness accounts./WDJ
