A 67-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed two people along Jacinto Street, Barangay 4, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Thursday evening.
Police identified the victims as 35-year-old Cyd Martelino and 23-year-old Jovy Luceño, both residents of the said barangay.
Hinigaran municipal police said, prior to the incident, the suspect, Alex Quilantang, was seen speaking with Martelino as both were living in the same house as tenants.
While Martelino was washing her face, the suspect allegedly assaulted her with a 10-inch kitchen knife.
Quilantang tried to stab Martelino again but she was able to fend off the attempt.
As Martelino attempted to flee, Luceño grabbed Quilantang and was also stabbed.
Both victims escaped and called neighbors for help.
Quilantang was later arrested by police, while both victims were rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City for treatment.
Hinigaran police are still investigating Quilantang’s motive./WDJ
