Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) spokesperson, Police Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, urged the public to refrain from spreading false, or unverified, terror threats.
“In case you come across any text message or social media posts regarding terrorist threats, please do not share,” he stated. “This is to avoid the spread of misinformation and panic.”
Last week, the region was hit with three false terrorist threats, aimed at sites in Lambunao, Iloilo; Roxas City, Capiz; and Jordan, Guimaras.
The threats happened to come after the Maasin Municipal Police Station was raided by rebels of the New People’s Army (NPA) and the apprehension of three suspected members of the Maute group in Iloilo City./WDJ
