The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippine (CBCP) released the names of websites they believe carries fake news, or unverified content, some of which are considered “pro-Duterte” sites.
Among the sites highlighted by the religious group include du30newsinfo.com, dutertedefender.com, and mindanation.com, all of which publish news favorable to the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Not only does this offend against the orientation of the human intellect to the truth, it is, more fundamentally, a sin against charity because it hinders persons from making right and sound decisions,” said CBCP President and Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas.
The CBCP leader also called it “part of the Catholic faith” to refrain from supporting the sites named by the organization.
The organization also released their pastoral guidelines on the use of social media./WDJ
