The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently passed a resolution requesting the National Food Authority (NFA) to strengthen its monitoring of rice, in response to reports of “fake rice” entering the market.
According to City Councilor Claudio Jesus ‘Kalaw’ Puentevella, the author of the resolution, social media post claiming “fake rice,” which is made of plastic, has become a major concern among local consumers.
He said it is the policy of the city government to protect and promote the health of local residents as the materials in the artificial food products may be harmful./WDJ
