Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) on Saturday confirmed the shortlisted candidates reported by Watchmen Daily Journal last week, clarifying Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. has yet to endorse his pick for the top post in the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO).
In a radio interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, PRO-18 spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, identified Police Senior Superintendents Rodolfo Castil, Moises Villaceran, and Romeo Mangwag as the three possible candidates for NOPPO director.
If Marañon fails to choose from the three, she explained, PRO-18 will give the governor the courtesy to identify his own candidate for the post and will forward his endorsement to the Philippine National Police (PNP) national headquarters in Camp Crame.
However, should the governor be unable to endorse anyone, PRO-18 will provide a new list of possible candidates, which will be recommended by the national headquarters.
Last week, a credible source inside the PNP contacted Watchmen Daily Journal identifying Castil, Villaceran, and Mangwag as nominees.
Castil is currently serving as NOPPO acting director, while Villaceran and Mangwag are assigned under PRO-18./WDJ
