The Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) conducted several fogging operations in Barangay Vista Alegre last week as the number of dengue cases continues to rise.
Environmental sanitation officer, Dr. Grace Tan, said the fogging operation was concentrated in Purok Angela Gonzaga after recording 22 cases in the area over the past three weeks, a number she considered “far too many.”
Tan also expressed concerns residents in the area have not cleaned their surroundings, which often provides breeding ground for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
She further stressed the fogging operation is only a temporary solution to the problem.
CHO has already recorded five dengue-related fatalities in Bacolod City this year. The latest being a two-year-old child who died last month./WDJ
