Ceres-Negros FC suffered their first loss in the ongoing Philippines Football League (PFL), with a 2-1 defeat to JPV Marikina FC over the weekend at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
After finishing the first half with a 0-0 tie, JPV strikers Takumi Uesato and Jay Baguioro each scored in the second half to lift the eventual winners to a 2-0 lead. Ceres forward Bienvenido Marañón provided the goal for the Negrense side.
“I don’t want to look for an excuse,” said Ceres coach Risto Vidaković. “In the second half, [JPV] played better and they won it.”
Ceres has since flown out to Singapore, where they face S.League club Hougang United tomorrow night in the 2017 RHB Singapore Cup./WDJ
