A source within the Philippine National Police (PNP), assigned in the Negros Island Region (NIR), yesterday revealed the next Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) head has already been selected by Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr.
According to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to lack of authority to speak on the matter, the three high-ranking cops in contention are Police Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran; Police Senior Superintendent Romeo Mangwag; and Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, who is officer-in-charge for NOPPO.
Both Villaceran and Mangwag are assigned under Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18), with Villaceran heading Police Community Relations (PCR) and Mangwag leading the Regional Operations and Plans Division (ROPD).
Castil took over as NOPPO’s acting director after retired PRO-18 Director Police Chief Supt. Renato Gumban sacked NOPPO Director Police Senior Supt. William Señoron for his alleged links to the Berya-Camaria drug group.
Señoron is assigned under the PNP’s Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) in Camp Crame, where he is currently being investigated./WDJ
