The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently appointed a new director for the Negros Island Region (NIR) office.
According to reports released by the national office, Atty. Arnold Lazaro assumed the post of acting regional director on June 5, replacing Atty. Mario Tonelete, who was relieved in March of this year
Lazaro was previously the NBI head of Mindoro.
He said he is focused on intensifying the campaign against terrorism, illegal drugs, and graft and corruption under his leadership.
When asked about the identities of some big-time drug personalities in NIR, Lazaro said he is still familiarizing himself with the new assignment and would soon divulge if there were major developments with certain crimes and drug-related cases in the province.
Lazaro also confirmed Atty. Renoir Baldovino will remain as NBI-Bacolod head, contrary to some reports claiming he was being relieved./WDJ
