The Cadiz City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) held the first multi-sectoral forest protection committee (MFPC) meeting in Toboso, last week.
According to Chief Enforcement Section Forester Remia Buaron, in order to effectively implement environmental laws, partnerships between various sectors and relevant agencies must be strengthened.
The MFPC also aims to build strong camaraderie within the group by allowing all parties to open up issues they face regarding environmental awareness within their respective local government units.
Among the issues covered in the meeting included MFPC functions, the presentation of accomplishments, the discussion of several issues and concerns, reforestation efforts, and the protection of the remaining forest cover from illegal activities./WDJ
