A live grenade was reportedly found by a garbage collector along Laguna Highway, part of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Friday evening.
According to the Dumaguete City Police Station, around 7:45 p.m., a certain Edmund Ebora reported he found a grenade near a school.
The garbage collector, identified as 24-year-old John Ibona, said he was sorting through the garbage when a box fell from a pile.
As he approached the box, he discovered it contained a grenade prompting him to alarm nearby residents.
Members of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOrPPO) Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit later arrived in the area to defuse and recover the grenade, which was later determined to be a MK2 Fragmentation-type grenade./WDJ
