Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. said the Provincial Government is ready to send aid to Marawi City once it is declared clear by the armed forces.
In a press conference last Friday, Marañon said he will ask the Provincial Board to decide on the amount the Capitol would give. However, he said they will only send the aid after the Maute terror group has been neutralized in the affected area.
“The Board has not yet decided on the amount, but we have to let the government forces handle the conflict first, so we can get a complete damage assessment and we will help in any way we could,” Marañon said.
Marañon has also requested the residents of the province to remain vigilant, in light of the recent attack on a Manila casino, saying the residents should also do their part in informing the authorities of any suspicious individuals in their area.
Earlier, he noted the incident at Resorts World Manila, which killed 38 people, will not trigger President Rodrigo R. Duterte to declare martial law nationwide./WDJ
