In response to rumors members of the Maute terror group have entered the Western Visayas Region, Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) spokesperson, Police Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, stated, “There is no truth to that.”
He urged the public to stop spreading such rumors.
Since the terror attack in Marawi City, text messages and posts on social network sites have surfaced, claiming a Maute member was spotted at a local shopping mall, however, it did not specify the location.
Gorero also pointed out, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, PRO-6 director, has sought support from local Muslim communities to help in intelligence gathering./WDJ
