Bacolod City records five dengue fatalities this year Cases almost double from same period last year

The number of dengue cases in Bacolod City has increased to 305 cases, compared to 156 recorded last year.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod, Bacolod City Health Officer, Dr. Grace Tan, said the cases were recorded from January 1 to May 20, in which they have also recorded five fatalities.
Tan said the five came from Barangays Sum-ag, Handumanan, Singcang, 14, and Granada.
She also identified Barangays Handumanan, Mansilingan, Mandalagan, Granada, Alijis, Estefania, Villamonte, Sum-ag, Tangub, and Vista Alegre among the Top 10 barangays with the most number of dengue cases.
The city health officer added, they are currently monitoring dengue cases, especially since the rainy season has already begun.
Earlier, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Negros Occidental expressed concern over the high mortality rate of dengue. Based on records released by PHO, 800 dengue cases have been reported between January to May this year, with nine deaths./WDJ
