Amid the ongoing conflict between government forces and the terrorist Maute group in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, a Facebook group called “Bacolod stand by Marawi” announced they are gathering 100 boxes of donations and will be bringing together 10 volunteers a day.
The project began yesterday and will run until June 2.
“We are not a formal group,” said group leader Kimee Santiago. “Just concerned citizens looking for a common venue for donations.”
“We approached the Social Action (SAC) and they agreed to be our drop off point,” she added.
The group is requesting Halal food, milk, coffee, hygiene and first aid kits, flashlights, portable lamps, batteries, power banks, and sleeping mats.
They also stressed, used clothes will not be accepted.
Donations should be in Balikbayan boxes and will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the SAC at the Bishops Palace of the Diocese of Bacolod.
“We are also calling on all organizations and public and private organizations to also gather donations and send to the SAC,” Santiago said./WDJ
