The newly-passed tow-away ordinance is awaiting the signature of Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, according to Councilor Dindo Ramos.
Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Committee on Transportation, said the ordinance was passed on final reading during their regular session last Wednesday.
Under the said ordinance, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will start designating several no parking zones in the city as tow-away zones. These locations will then be identified by red and yellow lines. Signages will also be installed to warn and inform motorists.
Ramos explained a red line means the area does not allow parking at all times while the yellow line may be used for parking during designated times.
Vehicles parked illegally will automatically be brought to the BTAO’s impounding area and the owners must pay the storage fee for the release of the vehicle.
Ramos expressed confidence that Leonardia would sign the measure, adding it is among the answers to the City’s traffic woes./WDJ
