Philippine National Police (PNP) Deputy Director General Ramon Apolinario is in Bacolod City, today, to preside over the turnover ceremonies for incoming Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) Director Police Chief Supt. Edmund Gonzales.
PRO-18 spokesperson, Police Senior Insp. Armilyn Vargas, said the turnover ceremony will be held at the Bacolod Pavilion Hotel later at 2 p.m.
During the turnover ceremonies, Vargas said, outgoing PRO-18 director Police Chief Supt. Renato Gumban will also give his valedictory address and report on the accomplishments of police force during his watch.
Gumban is also scheduled to celebrate his retirement and 56th birthday celebration later in the evening.
The outgoing director was supposed to celebrate his birthday and retirement on May 21, but since the date fell on a Sunday, the top officials of the PNP made the arrangements to conduct the ceremonies at an earlier date instead.
Earlier, Gumban told the men and women of PRO-18 to do good in their respective duties and follow the orders of their superiors.
He is also hoping Gonzales will continue to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling in the Negros Island Region (NIR)./WDJ
