Neg Occ Palaro athletes get incentives

In recognition of their efforts in the recent Palarong Pambansa held in Antique, the Division of Negros Occidental athletes on Tuesday received cash incentives from the Provincial Government during a ceremony at the Capitol Social Hall.
A total of 42 Palaro athletes, who won medals in the elementary, secondary, and SPED categories, took home a total of P320,000 financial incentives. In the regular sports, gold medalists received Php 10,000 each while Php 7,000 each for silver and P5,000 for the bronze. For SPED events, gold medalists got P5,000 while P4,000 and P3,000 for silver and bronze medalists, respectively.
In the elementary, Negros Occidental was able to win 3 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals; 15 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze medals for secondary; and a silver and 4 bronze medals for SPED.
The awarding of incentives was led by Provincial Sports Coordinator Angel Verdeflor, who represented Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., and DepEd sports head Romeo Sison.
Negros Island Region, which includes Negros Oriental, garnered a total of 18 gold, 8 silver, and 19 bronze medals for an overall 4th place finish at this year’s Palaro./WDJ
