According to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Jesus Hinlo, Jr., after submitting his Negros Island Region (NIR) retention memorandum to the Office of the President last month, said it is a matter of waiting.
“We have done everything,” he said. “We just have to wait for the decision by the president.”
However, Hinlo encouraged groups to continue campaigning for retention.
“Groups in Negros who are seeking help from the president should indicate their desire to see NIR retained by sending position letters to the president,” he added. “We should do our best until the president makes the decision.”
The DILG official noted, DILG OIC Catalino Cuy, who took over for Ismael Sueno, who was earlier ousted as secretary, voiced his support for the retention of NIR./WDJ
